  9. The turbopumps start injecting the rest of the fuel into the engine├òs combustion chamber where it is burned to produce a thrust of 2.1 million Newtons. Each SSME produces a sea level thrust of 180 000 kilograms (375 000 pounds) and a vacuum thrust of 213 000 kg (470 000 lbs.).
